Every cleaning product we use is MADE SAFE certified or EWG Verified — third-party standards that screen ingredients against known human-health and ecosystem concerns. We don’t decide what counts as safer; independent certifiers do.
Disinfecting is held to its own standard. When a job calls for disinfectant, we use products that meet the EPA’s Safer Choice criteria, with active ingredients like hydrogen peroxide and citric acid — effective against germs, without the harsh residue.
Why it matters: cleaning residue stays behind on counters, floors, and tub rails — the surfaces kids, pets, and food touch every day. Choosing certified products is the simplest way to control what lingers after the wipe-down.

Before you reach out
Do nontoxic products actually clean as well?
Yes — with the right products and technique. Certified cleaners handle everyday dirt, grease, and grime just as well as conventional ones. A few jobs, like heavy soap scum or mineral buildup, take a little more dwell time and elbow grease without harsh chemistry, and we plan our visits to allow for that rather than cutting corners.
Is this safer for kids and pets?
The products we use are certified by MADE SAFE or EWG Verified, which screen ingredients against known human-health concerns, and our disinfectants meet the EPA’s Safer Choice criteria. We can’t make medical promises — no honest company can — but choosing independently certified products is a meaningful, verifiable step, and it’s the entire reason this company exists.
What do the certifications actually mean?
MADE SAFE certifies products made without ingredients known or suspected to harm human health or ecosystems. EWG Verified applies the Environmental Working Group’s strictest ingredient standard. EPA Safer Choice is the EPA’s program for products whose ingredients meet its safer-chemistry criteria — the standard we require for disinfectants specifically.
Who will be cleaning my home?
Vetted, insured independent cleaning professionals who work with Purestead and follow our certified-product standard on every visit. You’ll always know who’s coming, and we handle scheduling, payment, and quality follow-up directly — you never chase anyone down.
Do I need to be home during the clean?
No — many clients aren’t. You can share entry instructions when we schedule. If anything was missed, tell us within 24 hours and we’ll make it right.
